Brovia

A fascinating freisa made by the esteemed Brovia Barolo estate! MIC DROP! The way you pronounce it is like: Freeze-sjaaa. I honestly didn’t even know this wine existed, I am very familiar with Brovia’s wines and this one came as a total surprise. A unicorn! Freisa is a red grape that is only really grown in small quantities in Piedmont, particularly in the north. It is structured with higher acidity and abundance of strawberry fruit. Brovia is strictly organic, the family has been in operation since the 1800s. I think the coolest thing about this wine is its like a quilt of small little parcels that are sprinkled into the little crus where Brovia has vineyards. They harvest all of the Freisa and then make it into this one limited bottling. It has amazing terroir pedigree and so many stories to tell. It is very different from Nebbiolo, but an awesome Italian wine journey for sure.
Serving temp: Cellar temp, around 65 degrees, store in a dark and cool spot.
Pairing: I would actually love a creamy spaghetti limone with this. Would be insane. Or a bechamel white lasagna…
