Given its presence in this wine he can not say that his wine is from Cahors, it's labeled as a Vin de France. (As a side note, Jurancon Noir is the cross between Malbec and Folle Blanche- very rare!!). This wine is playful and plush, it is perfect when it’s chilled but doesn’t have to be. The elegance and liveliness collide in a red wine that is made completely naturally: there is no oenological tinkering or inputs as Jouves would say. This wine label started as a collaboration project between Pierre \u0026amp; Thierry based on sourced fruit when vintages for their personal vines were not great…this is the continuation of that project. Le Telquel, a name that is actually a French pun, is a sheet delight! Whenever it hits our shelves it immediately sells out. I think gamay as a grape is incredibly approachable for all palettes, it’s not going to be the fullest bodied wine in the room, but it has such a soft and enticing appeal. What the old vines do is create depth and complexity within the wine. Leo Steen operates biodynamically and with such pure intention, the wines are beyond delicious. Seriously perfect for a summer day. And I have to say, a nice departure for Sonoma Rose which can sometimes be too rich and full bodied for my taste. Leo Hanson has worked all over Europe, and as a Danish man, settled in California to make wine, where his European palate informs a gentle approach to his wine making.
