Straight off the bat one of the best things about this wine is that it’s a liter bottle. HOLLER AT YOU GIRL! Love a liter, more wine inside the bottle for all of us to enjoy. Gruner Veltliner can present in a few different ways depending on where it is grown and also who is making the wine. I often associate this wine with the color green, it feels like spring; it's usually very pale in color, almost a greenish yellow. It’s the most spring feeling grape in a lot of ways, beckoning to its fellow spring things like asparagus and peas. This wine is ultra refreshing. It’s extra bright, minerally, lemon-lime zesty with a touch of sea salt. Made in Austria, on the outskirts of Burgenland, Stefan’s parents own this cool vineyard site and honestly I think the way the Gruner is expressing from the terroir here is so interesting and delicious. Gruner Veltliner is most commonly associated with being grown in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. The grape goes way back in time, seems to have been around since Roman times but originated in Austria. It appears that Gruner was created when Savagnin crossed with a super obscure Austrian varietal that no one pays attention to. But thus: We have gruner. THIS is the perfect spring white wine for a picnic; beach hang; or just sitting by an open window.
