Coquelicot Estate
Coquelicot Estate, Santa Ynez Valley, California, Sauvignon Blanc, 2024
Here comes a Santa Ynez Baddie, she’s sauvignon blanc, she’s delicious and chock full of texture and appeal. Coquelicot is a family run project, and its super cool that the winemaker is the person who makes LoFi wines (some of my faves), and the family who owns it is carrying on the tradition of their French father. Sauvignon Blanc can sometimes get a bad rap, like it’s perceived as basic, but I honestly love a good Sauvy B. That’s what I like to call her. It’s crisp but has plush fruit notes, there is acid but it’s not cloying. All of the farming is organic and the winemaking is done with the best intentions. Picture this: You with a glass in your hand sitting in Central Park next to some randomly sprouted Daffodils.
Serving temp: Fridge cold!
Pairing: Asparagus with hollandaise sauce; tuna melts!!
